Daniele,

I have both of these lenses and I do not feel that there is significant
overlap. First, the focal lengths are obviously different. More
importantly, I use them in quite different situations. The Noctilux is my
lens for really marginal lighting situations, like bars or street scenes
by night, school plays, indoor markets etc. For example, see the image
"Tongeren Market 10" in the Belgian Markets section of my Belgium page.
Most of my successful Noctilux pictures are taken at f1 to f1.4.

The Summilux I use when maximum sharpness is needed and the pictures are
taken at all sorts of apertures. For an example, see the pictures of a

Both of these lenses embody the essence of Leica and are quite wonderful
but in different ways. Your choice should be dictated by which kind of
pictures you like to take.
