Subject: [Leica] Glass absorbing UV-light

Hi all
Recently there was a discussion on the use of UV-filters on Leica
lenses. I do not now how this thread ended as I have not read my LUG
posts carefully for some weeks. Anyhow, today I glanced hrough my Leica
fotografie issues (in german) from 1953 and found an article written by
Walter Benser. He states that three lenses had built in UV-filters at
that time (Eingebautes UV-Schutzfilter) because their glass absorbs
UV-light. These lenses are: Summitar, Summarit and Summarex. Lenses of
Elmar-type does not have this quality according to Benser. This article
was in the Mars 1953 issue, that is two issues before the Summicron
1:2/5 cm was thoroghly presented om two pages.

regards
Mikael
