I'm not sure of the exact settting, but maybe you could adjust it to its
minimum distance (so that it fails to trip the shutter), then increase the
length in increments of one millimeter at a time, until the shutter trips.

You might also be able to set it by connecting a standard cable release, and
measuring the amount of travel required to trip the shutter when you depress
the cable release.  You should be able to feel when the tip begins to hit
the button, then measure the travel from there, until the shutter trips.
