This places the tripod screw in the center of the camera. I cut a small Kirk or RRS plate (don't remember which it was - doesn't matter) with lip, in half, just in front of the rapid wind lever. The plate, for all intent and purposes, is permanently mounted to the rapidwinder. It is "not" in any way, in the way. I don't even know it's there. It does not interfere with the lever, and it sometimes even provides a steadying finger hold when photographing at very slow speeds. And, of course, it is easily attached to a tripod or monopod. Use the Kirk QR-1 or QR-2 (or RRS equivalent) on your monopod and/or tripod. I use a B1 on my small lightweight Gitzo carbon tripod and an RRS version of the QR-1 on my Bogen monopod. I've had this on my M6 for a year now and when I get another M camera, I'll duplicate the set-up. I would be lost without it. Jim
