Ken was referring to "message filter" feature which is found in most modern e-mail readers (or since the date spamming became a common disease on the Internet). The term "filter" has been coined for sometime now. A filter would automatically distributes, or filters, incoming e-mails by subject or sender into specific folders ("Trash" can be one).
