You make an excellent point. A new Leica lens does not make the prior
generation lens any less in quality than it was prior to the release of the
new lens. Although the newest generation of Leica lenses are wonderful, the
differences between these and the prior generation only seem to be found
under strict conditions. This does not mean that the differences are
insignificant or unimportant. Rather, it signifies that Leica's prior
generation of lenses were quite fine. The new ones are just that much better.

The 135/4 is a fine lens and I like mine very much. However, as soon as I am
convinced that Leica has all the bugs out of the new one, I will purchase
one. The same with the new 90. Until then the older lenses will be just
fine.
