As Mark already said, there is a compensation button. Actually, you
choose the function and then set the compensation factor by + and -
buttons (+/- 3EV if I correctly recall).

The flash comes with diffusor (is this the right English word?) that
you put on the head in order to cover a wider angle. I tried it with a
21mm and it was great. No dark angles or even the slightest degree of
vignetting, up to a 5 meter (15ft) distance, using 160 ISO negative
film (NPS).
