In printing from colour negatives, there has to be some judgement used. EACH film type and EACH paper type will react a bit differently. And, even within the same film type, two different rolls might require different mixes of the colours. With colour slide printing, it is far, far easier. You have to "register" your enlarger: that is, you have to figure out what settings work to give a decent print. Once you have these settings, then they should stay the same from slide to slide and roll to roll. Ilfochrome registers each box of paper you buy, so you have to factor these figures in. For instance, if you print a slide and find out it gives you a great print at 50Y and 50M, and the adjustment on the box for the paper you are using is 20Y and 30M, then the registration for YOUR enlarger is 30Y (50Y less 20Y) and 20M (50M less 30M). After that, you just add this registration figure to that on the next box of paper you buy. Marc msmall@roanoke.infi.net FAX: +540/343-7315 Cha robh bas fir gun ghras fir!
