Gosh, Mark, I feel like I'm on the witness stand (;-)

I have three 50's for the M and two for the R and the 60 2.8. I always put
the Summicron on in case I wanted the extra stop - for little increase in
size and weight.
I find the M camera with a lens too big for my pocket- even the collapsable.
For that use I have a Minox 35 ML.

Don't you have a Noct. as well?
Yes, I do, but it has a markedly different character compared to the
Summicron or the Elmar.

Why did you buy it in the first place?
I thought it would be significantly smaller and lighter. I bought it on the
net and had never seen one "in person" before.

Is it the cheapest new Leica M lens made?
I dunno..

 It is gorgeous!
How often do you shoot Tech Pan. film with a sandbaged tripod and then
 make 20 by 24's? >>
Practically never - so what?
I have used almost every format from 35mm to 5X7 over the last 35 years or so
and have decided to "specialize" in 35mm for my last years. I use Leica
because of certain characteristics if the images and the delight I get in
owning and handling the stuff.

Now and then I do go after high picture quality almost as an end in and of
itself. That does mean a tripod and a small bag of lead shot. Usually it also
means the Leicaflexes as well.
