Subject: Re: [Leica] The wonderful Imarect...

The Imarect suffers from a variety of problems, the most noticeable being
the minuscule frames used for the longer focal lengths. And almost all
surviving Imarects suffer from haziness which can often be cleaned by
disassembly, but this is a bear and not always sufficient.

The Russian clone of the Zeiss 436/70 multi-sucher is the way to go. These
are still in production, they are readily available and inexpensive, and
are optically superb. And, because they are "flipped" from their Zeiss
original, which was designed to fit the Contax RF design, they register
vertically with the Leica lensmount.

I have seen these puppies sell for $40 at a camera show, but $100 for one
in E++ condition is more normal.
