SNIP --
I recently purchased a chrome M6, (chose chrome over black purely for
aesthetic preference) and now I need a lens. Assuming street pics,
snapshots of kids, and landscapes, which would you
consider a better choice for a first lens, a 2/50, or a 1.4/35....

SNIP --

IMHO, One Choice, given your criteria, and it should be the first
purchased and the last sold -- the f/1.4 35mm Summilux M ASPH. It is a
heavy 35mm lens to began with, 0.250 kg (black) or 0.415kg (chrome).
The f/2 50mm Summicron-M is 0.240 kg (black) or 0.335 kg (chrome). You
will not believe the images you get full range with the f/1.4 35mm! It
always goes with me. The f/2 50mm Summicron-M (last generation) is a
fine lens -- but not as versatile.
