I have shot a lot of N1600 @ EI 1600/800, developed in TMax 1+4/1+7 (this
is a great combination, BTW, especially with a Leica) and tried some
TMax3200 in TMax 1+4, and D3200 in Xtol 1+1. IMO, TMax3200 has the biggest
grain, followed by D3200 (smaller), followed by N1600 (smallest).

As far as control of grain, I think you are better off developing the films
by yourself, then you can have a "total control".
