Hold it..... the meter in the LEICAMETER, the gadget that fits on top of any
Leica M camera CAN NOT be fried with the EPX625. The circuit is a passive
circuit. The only negative effect will be a short useage life... the
battery will need to be replaced more often.

The M6 ia a slightly different story, but it also WILL NOT fry. It also
will wear out faster.....
The CL and CLE are more similar to the Leicameter in effect.

The voltage is a bit higher, and will cause erroneous readings...... about
0.1 to 0.3 of a stop!!! Stop worrying and go use the camera.
If you don't like your chromes, change the ASA dial by 1/3 of a
stop......have your camera re-calibrated for about $50 or more, ..... or put
in a CRIS battery adaptor in the Leicameter (not the M6, it will not help
there)

I did an analysis of the battery effect about 18 months ago....

Life's too short ........Where do these stories start?

Frank

It is my understanding that PX 625(mercury) battery is the only battery
to be used in Leica meters, not the alkaline EPX625's. The EPX625 will
end up frying the circuit board of the meter. Does anyone have a good
source to obtain the mercury batteries in the USA?
