The consist of a spool, inner shell and outer shell. When the baseplate cam closes the baseplate, it also rotates the inner shell so the opening in the inner shell lines up with the opening in the outer shell thus providing a wide-open path for the film and nothing touches the film, certainly not fuzzy cloth that is found in regular cassettes. The Leica cassettes were discontinued at least 20 years ago and were expensive at that time. They only work with the M series cameras that have the cam arrangement.
