CDI tests are pretty accurate. They do not seem to have the bias toward a
particular lens manufacturer like you see in some magazines.  
Their comment about the 70-180mm was "The best that you can buy, but the
price....."

Very easy.
The FTM test made by the french review Chasseur d'images is outstanding :
5/5 stars.
Even at 180 mm and at full aperture, the zoom is equal in quality to the
apo 2.8/180...More distorsion however : +0.6% for the former and 0% for the
latter.
Eric has the luck of the devil ;-)
