Paul - They can't both be the 20th production M6 as there is only one of any
number in sequence - 19th and 20th, maybe, 20th and 21st, perhaps...but not
20th and 20th..

Subject: [Leica] A Simple Question about the M6

Dear Lug List,

This is my first message to the group, so please forgive any ignorance
to list protocol or restating of known topics.....

I have a simple question regarding the M6. I was browsing around
informational pages about the M6 when I came accross one that also deals
leica and other rangefinders. I won't mention any names, but the page
in question listed a "20th production M6" for $3500. Along with the
listing was a link to information regarding the differences between the
20th production and later M6's. I read the differences and remembered
an M6 that I was interested in buying from a local shop the prior
evening(the camera was so beautiful, that it's permanantly etched into
my brain). I read the information and it seemed to me that the M6 that
I saw for $1400 was a "20th production" model. So I wondered, why the
price difference? So I called the number on the web page to speak to
the person selling the camera to ask. I did so in a extremely discreet
and polite way, only to get snippy responses, and finally a "next time
email" and hangup. Can anyone tell me why I recieved this attitude? Is
the $3500 price tag justified, or is the $1400 M6 a steal? Why was this
person so rude to me? I realize that the value of the camera also
depends on the condition, but the M6 I was looking at was in MINT-
condition, and the finder was clear and bright.

Thanks for any and all help,

Paul
