Even if R sales are down, maybe this is the impetus to push Leica to adapt AF and ultrasonic motors like the EOS system. They will more likely do it like Nikon. Keep the mount, and put the motors for focus in the lens where needed (if you ask me, Canon has proven all lenses!), but let the body move the aperture. That way they don't obsolete all their planning of the S1 digital as well as keep the line working for all 3cam lenses. So what if the R sales are down now? What is Leica's response? From one recent post, it sounds like they're counting on the M system to be their "retro" anti establishment approach to photography.
