Subject: [Leica] M3 wax seal

I have only recently subscribed to the leica-users mailing list but
look forward every day to reading it. I have owned an M3 (Serial no 963
402) for about 5 years and was wondering about the wax seal on my camera.
Instead of saying "L", it says "80". I was wondering if somebody could
enlighten me as to what the means?
