I don't know where you are, or how plugged into U.S. politics you are, but during the 1992 campaign for President James Carville, Clinton's political operative/terrorist, made up a sign that said, "It's The Economy, Stupid!" that was hung up in campaign headquarters as a reminder to all concerned that the economy was the only issue that really mattered.... My view of all the equipment chatter, etc., on this list is, that when it all comes down to it..."It's the vision..." that matters.... My using that paraphrase was not meant in any way to suggest that you are stupid, etc. etc...only to indicate how vital I feel the "vision thing" is.... :-) B. If I were near you I would .... never mind, must control fist of death.... Anyway, I was just commenting on something. Apparently I am not the stupid one because you didn't realize the intent of the message. Peter K - -----Original Message----- From: B. D. Gosh, those modern fools >>like Galen Rowell, Annie Leibovitz, et al they should know better than to >>use color slide film. After all they are only famous and worth near >>millions of US$. Ashame..... >> >>Peter K >> So, let me see if I've got this right...the standard as to whether one is or is not a great photographer is whether one is "famous," and "worth millions?" Forgive my humble opinion, but Annie Leibovitz is a celebrity photographer of celebrities. Yes, she makes nice images. But were she not a woman, I guarantee you that 15 years after her death her name would not show up on the lists of the greats and near greats.... There are world class photographers who work almost exclusively in color, those who work in color and black and white, and those who work only in B&W. Once again, to paraphrase James Carville..."It's the vision, stupid!"...not the emulsion... :-)
