Why is only posting on Fridays "fair" to everyone? What's unfair about
posting on other days? My point is that the members of LUG are likely to
lose opportunities when people decide not to wait till Friday and sell or
trade in items elsewhere.

I like the LUG community. If I decide to trade in a piece of equipment on a
Thursday or Friday, I'd probably post it first and happily sell it to
someone on LUG for the same amount I'd be getting from my local dealer in
trade. If I had to wait a week to do so, I probably wouldn't.

By restricting the ads to the "23:59:59 window of a Friday," whose window do
you propose we adopt? We have members from all over the globe. I suppose we
have to be prepared to keep an eye out for postings that show up on our own
screens Thursdays and Saturdays as well. Is this somehow unfair?

There are many postings here that I'm not particularly interested in, but I
would never try to limit them or restrict them in time. I just click past
them. I also don't watch television programs I don't like, read books I find
offensive or go to movies about things I find uninteresting. But I would
never call for restricting them. Yes, there have even been LUG postings that
I've found offensive (Walt's remarks about lawyers come to mind), but I
consider that my problem and not a reason to limit anything. If you don't
want to read a "for sale" ad on a Wednesday, don't read it. It's my
understanding that there is a prohibition against dealers using LUG to post
regular listings, but it also seems that is largely disregarded. The LUG
survives.

Why is someone always trying to police groups like this?

I just don't see the point and I'm sure that strict adherence is going to
cause LUG members to miss out on items that will be listed, traded, and sold
elsewhere. If we can talk about Ted's underwear any day of the week, the
list is not going to fall apart with a "for sale" posting made when it is
most convenient to the seller.
