I have had both black dials and red dials and have never noticed any
significant noise differnce. both extremely quiet 'instruments'. I had
my current 'user' placed with new shutters by John Maddox at L&J Leica
repair; was an excellent experience. He replaced my shutters in a IIIf
black dial, cleaned and adjusted everything, including removing the
'gunk' from my rangefinder/viewfinder windows and sent the whole thing
for me to inspect BEFORE I sent him the money. It was just like I
imagine heaven will be like, wasn't even that expensive! Kent
