Enough said on this.  I lived thorugh that era. What sold the IBM PC was
Lotus 1-2-3 much in the way Visicalc was the killer app for the Apple.  
The PC vs. Apple is analogous to Leica M vs. R. The end result is a photo.
The instrument you use to get it is superfluous.
