The second version contains one aspheric surface that is formed in the new press forming process. This process is much less labor intensive, and results in a much lower selling price. I have heard that the newer version is superior to the earlier one, but would be interested in hearing from someone who has had direct experience with both of these lenses. Ferrel Anderson
