Bob << paul, walt and all, i am leaving my usual LURK mode to state that i am a LUG member, a Leica user/afficianado and female. i own and use several Leica bodies, lenses and accessories. i also own and use innumerable high-end (handmade, mostly) guitars, four high-end bicycles (two custom-made), so PLEASE count me among the ??% of Leica users that are not necessarily male. :-) interestingly, many of the luthier friends (guitar makers, that is) i know are ALSO photography buffs--a couple use the Leica, but as many use Olympus and Nikon. I think it has a lot to do with the appreciation of FINE workmanship, beauty AND utility, whether in a musical instrument or in a camera/lens. if one appreciates fine instruments, it is likely to spill over into many areas, whether automobiles (i drive a Saab convertible), firearms, cameras, bicycles, motorcycles, etc. i spend my days as the co-owner of a small guitar shop in nashville, tn, and i must admit most of my time is spent talking with men and women (mostly middle-aged, because they are the folks with the disposable income) who want to find/buy the NEXT most wonderful guitar (we called MGAS in my industry, or multiple guitar acquisition syndrome). the men and women seem to like working with me because i share their DISEASE, i.e., their love for the guitar (or Leica, or whatever). <g>. kim, who is white, 37, female and earns >$25K annually http://www.cottenmusic.com >>
