John,

I am a big fan of the Ricoh GR1. The Minilux is not really pocketable, the
Hexar not at all. The GR1 gives superb images in a package not much bigger than
a pack of cigarettes. Its ergonomics are equally excellent. The one drawback is
the 28mm lens--a 35mm would be more generally usable. On the other hand, if
your lens is too wide you can usually just move closer; if it is too long, this
is not always possible, so perhaps on balance Ricoh's choice of focal length is
sensible. I lost my first GR1 this summer and thought long and hard about its
replacement. In the end, I bought another GR1.
