SNIP Byron, The Summicron f/2 50mm up to about 3649976 (start of the built-in hood) will take the vented hood 12585, which is reversible for storage and takes a plastic snap on lens cap (14033). You are correct, the next to the last Summicron iteration (which is the same lens formula) takes the 12585. My f2/50mm is serial number 35158xx and it uses the vented hood. Great lens! My f2/50mm Dual Range, serial number 23573xx, will also use the 12585 hood. Hope this helps. Bill Caldwell <sneeker@erols.com>
