That is true. They would be smaller, but I suspect they might be too big
for an M camera simply because the lens would be so big that it would block
too much of the viewfinder. The R doesn't have that restriction. But for
focusing, the M would be a better choice. These are the compromises Leica
likely faces in making such decisions.

A 24 Summicron R ASPH would really get my attention.
