You will sometimes see the same thing in New York. If you are working on a razor-thin margin, giving up a percentage to Visa or an even higher percentage to Amex is not an interesting business proposition. In Amsterdam the Leica shop I frequent most often (Foto Nivo-Schweitzer) add 3% if you pay by credit card.
