The new  "Leica. The Program" ( latest catalog ) says 
availability is Q4, "98". My dealer states avail. of Q1, "99";
& now you say......fall of "99". Chaotic state of affairs (&>)!

Oh well, maybe it's a blessing in disguise, as I've gotten
a bit uneasy, about whether the M6 (.85x) viewfinder will
allow me to focus a 90 f2 with ease....... doing hand held
informal portraits! 

In the past, I could not work with my M6 (.72x)/90 f2 combo
quickly enough; i.e., get the eyes in focus, & still maintain 
the spontaneity of the moment.  

Any comments would be appreciated as to whether a M6
(.85x) viewfinder option would make the difference.
