Hard to understand the problem with your older M6's unless they are the
early versions which had less-sensitive meters and where the LED's do not
indicate under and over exposure as discerningly as the later models.  I
used an early M6 once and there is indeed a difference.  My M6's are
consistent between bodies and have proven quite reliable with
narrow-latitude reversal film.  Admittedly, judging the relative
brightness of the LED's is slower than the "right on" LED in the TTL.
