Roue - wheel

Carosse - from italian "carozza", coach grand luxe, normally with four wheels,
(French dictionary Petit Larousse - I don't have any English dictionary). 

The fifth wheel on the coach (?) 

There might be another expression for that in English (American), I don't know.
