Subject: Re: [Leica] Gitzo Tripod "Hook"

That was probably me.
The underside of Gitzo centreposts have an internal thread. In the
smaller ones it is 1/4" and 3/8" in the bigger Gitzos. Go to a good
hardware store (or Home Depot if you're in the US) and ask for an "eye
bolt". This is a bolt where the un-threaded end is bent into a circle.
Also, buy an "S" hook. Screw the eyebolt into the underside of the
centrepost; use the S hook to hang the weight from it. You can also
purchase an open "hook" bolt instead of the two pieces above, but I found
that I kept scraping my hand on it, so I went to the 2-piece design.

Regards,
Nigel
