Subject: Re: [Leica] mini LUG site?

I think some of you people are really missing the point. Francesco's
offering is generous. Just check out what the going rate for most ISP's
are for a website with 5MB of disk space. Here's an opportunity for you to
use free disk space.

Francesco's association with the "LUG" is completely voluntary. It is also
nonlegally binding as far as I know. You could race off to the InterNIC
tomorrow and file for a "LUG" or "Leica" domain name for yourself ( well, I
would caution you against using the "Leica" name as it is probably
copyrighted). Even a domain name that he is openly discussing on the
mailing list. You could build your own site reflecting your own works as
well as other LUGgers every bit as freely as Francesco is. What's holding
you back? If you like the association with LUG, but not with Francesco,
start your own project.

If you are concerned about his business of erotic photography, perhaps a
compromise would be to build your own website where you have full creative
control. If you want to be affiliated with Leica photography, there are
several existing sites already pointing to Leica photographers' galleries.
You could ask to have a pointer to your site added. The same method might
be available by Francesco; maybe he would be willing to put a pointer to
your site. That way, you're not "residing" at his site, but have an
association with other Leica photographers.

For his trouble, Francesco gets raked over the coals by public
condescention. What have you critics done for the LUG lately? Some people
talk the talk; others walk the walk and deserve more respect.
