With all due respect to everyone, this has gotten out of hand.  Brian has
stated that he does not want any compensation and I think that should be
respected.  I would be happy to contribute whatever it takes, but if doing
this makes him unhappy, makes him feel self-conscious, or possibly even
resentful, it's not worth it.

Respect his feelings and wishes and take him at his word.
