"So,then, the titanium ones are titanium over brass? Why do they have to=

make them titanium over brass instead of straight titanium."

Titanium is a fashionable material. The titanium finish on quite a lot of=

photographic hardware is a coating on a cheaper or easier to form materia=
l.
Titanium is slow and expensive to macine and has high surface friction. I=
t
would be difficult to get a good finish and silky feel. Even the cheapest=

alloys are expensive, but so is brass. Aluminium is also lighter than
Titanium.
