I guess your term "splitting hairs" really summarizes it.  I'm not
suggesting that people go out and try to find ways of cheating Leica.
For me, if I paid $200 for three years worth of passport warranty, I
think Leica should honor that warranty for the whole three years, even
if I have to find a technical "loophole" to enforce it. If anything, I
would be promoting people's confidence in the Leica.

I think it is just about as dishonest as using up somebody else's
remaining time on a parking meter.
