Tape is the obvious answer.  On my black M6, I filled in the white lettering
on the front with a gray crayon.  Really tones down the "Leica M6"
advertising.  You could get a spare Leica red dot and paint it black and stick
it on the camera in place of the red one.  This would be much neater than the
typical tape approach.
