Hi Tommy,

I think that a used M6 in good condition is an excellent buy. I went that
route myself and am quite pleased. The good dealers will give you up to 1=
 year
warranty on used equipment also. As an example, I bought mine from Robert
White in the UK for 975 GBP, or 60.000 BEF; in comparison, the best price=
 I
have seen on a new one here in Belgium is 86.000 BEF for a demo.

Of course, that is still not cheap, not much about Leica is. If you want =
to
enter this wonderful world sooner rather than later, you might consider a=
n M3.
True, you will not have a built-in meter, but light meters are not that
expensive, and you will have better focusing with the longer lenses. Best=
 of
all, you can normally a nice, perfectly working late model M3 for about h=
alf
of the price of a used M6. I also have an M3, from 1959, in almost mint
condition, which I bought from a guy in Germany for 1475 DM, or around 30=
.000
BEF. Combine that with a good used 50mm Summilux, for example, and you ha=
ve a
great M outfit for $2000 or so.

...And then the real wallet drain begins, as you add lenses, additional b=
odies
etc. Trust me, it will happen!

Good luck!

Nathan
