It really depends. I use a 180 a lot for portraiture, and find it quite
nice to use to isolate the subject from the background without getting in
too tight.

Yes, it takes some time to get used to it. So if you buy an M6, make sure
you use it for at least a year before you decide if it's really for you or
not. It takes a lot of practice for an SLR user to make the adjustment.
