Undoubtedly, it is nicely built and finished in the typical Leica manner, but to me good construction and finish don't mean anything with digital cameras. It makes sense to build this kind of quality into a product like the M6, which one expects to be usable for a very long time, but what's the sense of building such quality in a camera that's destined for your dumpster in 24 months? So long as the price is in line with other digital cameras like Kodak, Olympus, and so on, it is a viable product. But in my view there's no room for a luxury product in the digital camera marketplace. Quality of materials, assembly, lens, and so on are irrelevant in this space. So long as the thing lasts 2 years or so, that's fine. I for one will have no desire to use a 1998-era digital camera in 2002. - --Jim Laurel - -----Original Message----- From: fbrunell@bonzai.net [mailto:fbrunell@bonzai.net] Sent: Sunday, August 23, 1998 7:30 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: [Leica] Leica Digilux For those of you thrilled by digital...check this page from Wall Street Camera.
