When I was shooting miles and miles of bulk-load HP5 as a freelance newsie I always used this trick. It saves having the whole roll unwind on the darkroom floor if you drop it during spooling, too. The only real problem with this technique is if you're bulk loading, and re-using cassettes over and over. There is more risk of scratches when the film passes through the cassette lips three times instead of twice. Paul Chefurka
