Hello Harrison,
I was using my R-8 at Nazareth Raceway during a CART race. The photos came
out as you described. I called Leica and they told me that the problem was
with my motor drive.I returned the camera and drive.  While I was told that
my drive was missing something, upon its return I did not notice anything.
The R-8 has been flawless since.
