Subject: [Leica] audio gear, leica gear

When I bought my kind of over the top
stereo, I listened to CD's ('cause that's
what I own/play) in the stereo store until
I found the outfit I liked best. Then I duplicated
that. If that means I wasted $ on cables,
so be it. The thing is 5 years old and still
sounds very sweet to me. Is it overkill for
many of the not-so-well mastered CD's?
Yup. Then again, sometimes I'm sure
the muscian is standing in the room with
me...

Similar argument applies to M gear.
Is the 35f1.4aspheric better than the
35f1.4 normal? I don't know, but I've
had really good luck with it, therefore,
I'll keep it. Same for 75f1.4. Is an M6+75f1.4
overkill for most of my work? Sure.
I don't care, I'm happy with it. (And yes,
I actually use this stuff on a very regular basis.)

So long as you are evaluating the *package*
(whole stereo, camera/lenses/film) and are
happy with that, overbuying one component
or two probably isn't a bad thing, so long as
you are not living on beans to do it. Underbuying
can really screw you. (Bad amp driving pricey
speakers, or cheesy tripod under your fancy
camera, either one is a looser.)

In all the debates/discussions about
Lecia M's versus other things, the value
of the *entire package* gets lost.
