Tom Shea REPLY: The reality seems to be not that one can't do serious documentary photography/photojournalism and find a home for it, but rather, that the big buck markets for it are either drying up or have already dried up. The question seems to be how you personally balance your interests in/need for, doing your art and making money. There are certainly a number of terrific documentary photographers around, but damn few making money at it.
