Don, I do not focus in one particular direction.  -- sometimes from infinity
in and sometimes the opposite.  Do you know that the camera rangefinder is
adjusted properly?  One quick test I do is to focus on a far away vertical
high contrast object (like a radio tower or large pole.  I have found with at
least one (new M6) that the rangefinder did not line up correctly at infinity.
Do you have any focusing problems with other lenses?  If not, the problem
could be the lens. I had one Leica M lens that would not focus properly
because the rear cam was not machined properly.
