The lighter fluid is acting as a solvent on the Summitar aperture blades described in the other post--it's loosening old lubricant. A solvent won't dissolve a piece of grit, and taking apart your lens to get at it is something you probably don't want to do without prior experience (I know I wouldn't). I might give it a go on an older lens, but not one that's still freely repaired by Leica. One caveat, they seem to take 4-6 weeks to fix things in NJ. If you send it in I would call them a week after it arrives (use a UPS or FedEx tracking number) and ask them what their schedule is like. You'll have to be patient, and it's not easy when you're without a piece of equipment that you want to use. - -Charlie
