Subject: Re: [Leica] Lighter Fuel for lens cleaning

I think my problem is related to the subject of this thread.

I bought a new 35 Summicron Aspheric about two months ago.
Occasionally, when I turn the focusing ring it seems to stick in one
spot (at about the 2 meter mark) and won't turn any further unless I
apply a bit more force to it than normal. It feels very much that there
is some grit in the focusing mechanism. This has happened very rarely.
The image quality and focusing accuracy is not affected in any way.

I wonder if this is a cause for concern. Maybe the subject lighter
fluid trick might fix the problem. I have the passport warranty but I
don't want to bother to send it in unless it's a problem that I can't
fix otherwise or would get worse if I don't.

Has anybody encountered a similar problem with their lenses? Any
suggestions?

Ben
