I find that since I buy used equipment, for economic reasons, the number of
dilettantes out there assures me a good supply of relatively unused used
equipment! They buy it for whatever reason, use it little, and abuse it
little. They tire of it, and decide they want something else chic and neat.
They end up selling it for a lot less than they paid for it!
I have acquired most of my Leica stuff since I retired, and have bought six
lenses, only one of which was new.
