Documentary photographer Bill Burke postulates the following:
That there is a correlation between the focal length of a shooter's
favorite lens and the age of the shooter.

Like any such theory, this one has its exceptions. But isn't it odd how many
students in their late teens gravitate toward fisheyes and extreme wides.
Then come the 20s and the 21s and 24s. Then conservatism begins to rear its
ugly head, and the 35 takes over. And as we age, the 50 we discarded in our
youth begins to look pretty good.

Granted, I'm about to be 52 and I use my 35 more than my 50, but in years
past I didn't even own a 50 and now I use it at least 30 percent of the
time. And I sold my 21 to get the 35 asph....Go figure, as the kids I work
with say. :-)
