Three reasons a polarizer won't work easily.

1. The front element retracts back into the lens when you zoom, making it impossible to grab the polarizer ring.

2. The front element rotates with focus.

3. The lens hood fits over the front, not "on" it, also making it hard to get at a polarizer.

The one possibility would be to find a polarizer that had the same threads as the hood, but it is a non-stnadard size.
